What is Step Into Teaching?

Step Into Teaching is an experience programme for graduates to help choose teaching as their number one career choice.

The programme is designed to provide talented graduates with practical school-based experience that lays the foundations for a long-lasting, successful career.

Step Into Teaching aims to help every learner achieve their full potential, increase the growth of new teachers entering the classroom and raise teacher retention levels.

Inspire the next generation - Take your first step towards becoming a teacher.

We are currently working alongside several school-based ITT providers who offer School Direct, SCITT, Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship and Assessment Only routes to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Together, we will deliver a new approach to school-based teacher training by simplifying the entry process and providing a clear career progression plan.

Working with Neil on the Step Into Teaching Programme has really been a collaborative affair. Working with high quality potential Graduate coaches, which Neil has introduced us to has enabled us to talent spot potential teachers. Neil has listened carefully to our needs and understood our Trust well, and as a result, we have been able to identify several Graduates Coaches, who have been employed by our Trust. In their roles as intervention experts, they have been able to have a positive impact, adding capacity to the existing teaching, and working in a bespoke way with our students. This has also helped them to get more experience of the teaching profession, confirming to them how satisfying the career is, and enabling several Graduate Coaches to go on to successfully make applications to train to teach.
